Ethnopharmacologist and research pharmacognosist whose work bridges plant medicine, neuroscience, and indigenous knowledge systems. He has spent over four decades studying psychoactive and medicinal plants, including extensive research on ayahuasca as part of the landmark Hoasca Project. He is a founding board member of the Heffter Research Institute and co-founder of the McKenna Academy of Natural Philosophy. Alongside his brother Terence McKenna, he co-authored The Invisible Landscape, and is also the author of the memoir Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss. Dennis continues to be a leading voice at the intersection of ethnobotany, consciousness research, and the resurgence of interest in plant-based medicines.
