Hindol was introduced to Indian classical music at the age of five by his father, Sri Panchanan Sardar, and later trained under distinguished gurus such as Pandit Santosh Bannerji and Pandit Deepak Choudhury all of them belonging to the Rampur-Maihar Gharana, eventually developing his own unique musical identity and sound. He completed a Master’s degree in Jazz at the Cologne University of Music and Dance.
Indian classical music being one of the few musical traditions that fully embraces microtonal intervals through continuous glides between notes, Hindol makes extensive use of these possibilities. He creates intricate melodic landscapes through various ragas and rhythmic structures. Combining exceptional technical skill with deep knowledge of ragas and their psychoacoustic effects, he weaves them into performances that offer audiences a distinctive and immersive musical experience.
Alongside his work in Indian classical music, Hindol explores diverse musical traditions including jazz, Nordic, medieval European, Flamenco, Greek and Arabic music. He has initiated and led numerous intercultural projects such as Ragasutra, North Light, Essence of Duality, Fountainhead, and Samita, bringing together artists from different musical backgrounds. His collaborations include renowned artists such as Marina Abramović, Markus Stockhausen, Renaud Garcia-Fons, and Giorgis Xylouris, as well as distinguished dancers including Uma Dogra and Daksha Mashruwala.
